Is This Right For You?

Relationship difficulty comes inย many forms.

Relationship counselling isn’t only for romantic partners in crisis. The same patterns that create difficulty between couples โ€” poor communication, unresolved conflict, eroded trust, or a growing sense of distance โ€” show up in workplaces, friendships, and all kinds of close relationships.

“You don’t have to wait until things fall apart completely. Coming earlier often means change happens faster.”

โ€” Lee McCullagh

I work with people navigating difficulty in romantic partnerships, professional relationships, and significant personal connections. Whether you come alone or with the other person, the goal is the same: to understand what’s driving the difficulty and to build more effective, more honest ways of relating.

๐Ÿ”

Recurring conflict or arguments that never fully resolve

Feeling unheard, dismissed, or chronically misunderstood

๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿข

Workplace tension, difficult professional dynamics, or a breakdown in working relationships

๐Ÿงญ

A major life change that has put strain on an important relationship

๐ŸŒฟ

A desire to communicate more skillfully, not just resolve a single problem

Relationship Therapy

The Gottman Method:
science meets heart.

The Gottman Method is one of the world’s most thoroughly researched approaches to couples therapy. Developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman over decades of scientific study, it identifies the precise patterns that lead to relationship success โ€” and those that lead to breakdown. I am certified in this method, bringing genuine expertise to every session.

01

Build Love Maps

Deepening your knowledge of your partner’s inner world.

02

Turn Towards

Recognising and responding to each other’s bids for connection.

03

Manage Conflict

Learning to navigate disagreement without damaging the relationship.

04

Create Shared Meaning

Building a shared sense of purpose, rituals, and life goals.

What the Research Says

The Gottman Method can predict relationship outcomes with over 90% accuracy based on observable communication patterns โ€” and just as importantly, it can reliably improve them.

What Makes It Different

Rather than simply talking about problems, the Gottman Method gives couples practical tools to use between sessions โ€” building new habits of connection over time.

For Other Relationships

For workplace and personal relationships, I draw on the same communication, conflict, and trust principles โ€” adapted to the specific context and needs of each person.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

The Process

What to expect from relationship sessions.

Whether you come alone or with the other person, here is how the process typically unfolds.

Step 01

๐Ÿ‘‹

Initial Session

We start by mapping your situation โ€” what’s happening, what’s been tried, and what you’re hoping for. No pressure, no predetermined agenda.

Step 02

๐Ÿ”

Understanding the Dynamics

We look more closely at the patterns driving the difficulty โ€” communication styles, triggers, underlying needs, and what each person brings to the dynamic.

Step 03

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

Agreeing on Goals

Together we identify clear, meaningful goals for the work โ€” whether that’s repairing trust, improving communication, or learning to navigate conflict differently.

๐ŸŒฟ

My Approach

Research-backed care,ย warmly delivered.

I draw on a range of evidence-based frameworks โ€” always tailored to the type of relationship and the specific needs of each person.

โค๏ธ

Gottman Method

The backbone of my couples and romantic relationship work. A structured, research-based framework that builds friendship, manages conflict effectively, and helps people create shared meaning.

๐Ÿค

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT helps people understand the emotional cycles that drive conflict and disconnection โ€” and shift from reactive, defensive patterns toward more open, secure ways of relating.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Communication Skills

Practical tools for speaking and listening differently โ€” including how to raise difficult concerns without triggering defensiveness, and how to repair after things go wrong.

๐Ÿง

Attachment Theory

Understanding how early attachment experiences shape the way we relate to others โ€” in romantic relationships, friendships, and professional settings โ€” can open the door to lasting change.

๐ŸŒฑ

Narrative Therapy

Helping people examine and rewrite the stories they hold about a relationship โ€” moving from fixed, unhelpful narratives toward something more nuanced and hopeful.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Trauma-Informed Practice

Relationship difficulties are often shaped by past experiences. I am trained to recognise when individual history is affecting how someone relates โ€” and to work with care and sensitivity throughout.

Questions About Booking

A few things people oftenย ask.

I work with people navigating difficulty in romantic partnerships, workplace relationships, and significant personal friendships. The challenges that arise in each context are different โ€” but the underlying skills of communication, trust, and conflict resolution are often the same. You are welcome to come alone or with the other person, depending on what makes sense for your situation.

Not at all. Many people come to relationship counselling on their own โ€” to better understand their patterns, develop new skills, or work through a situation where the other person isnโ€™t available or willing to attend. Individual sessions can be genuinely effective for relationship work. If joint sessions are possible and appropriate, I can work in that format too.

Yes. Whether the breach involves infidelity in a romantic relationship, dishonesty in a professional context, or a significant rupture in a friendship, counselling can provide a structured, safe space to process what happened. For romantic relationships, I use specific Gottman protocols designed for trust repair. For other contexts, I draw on a complementary framework โ€” always with care for both the hurt and the harm caused.
